Tutorial 7

Step 1:
Open your picture, crop it and sharpen once

Step 2:
Duplicate your layer and set it to Screen 100%

Step 3:
Create a new Hue/Saturation Layer [layer > new adjustment layer > hue/saturation] and up the saturation to +30

Step 4:
Create a new Selective Color Layer [layer > new adjustment layer > selective color] and use the following settings:
Reds:
Cyan: +100
Magenta: +100
Yellow: +53
Black: +100

Yellows:
Cyan: 0
Magenta: +14
Yellow: -100
Black: 0

Neutrals:
Cyan: +100
Magenta: +28
Yellow: +30
Black: +59

Step 5:
Create another Selective Color Layer and use the following settings:
Reds:
Cyan: +100
Magenta: +35
Yellow: +44
Black: +21

Yellows:
Cyan: 0
Magenta: +35
Yellow: -94
Black: -9

Neutrals:
Cyan: +100
Magenta: +12
Yellow: 0
Black: 0

Tutorial 6

01. Open your image. I know, it seems obvious, but some people don't work like I do. *shrugs*

02. Do any fancy schmancy prepping to your image like you usually do unless you're a beginner in which then you should just read the tutorial and try some out later on. For me, I duplicate the image twice and set the first layer to Screen at a low opacity because the image is bright enough, and the second at Hard Light to make the image seem more defined and give more contrast. The second layer is also set at a low opacity because we don't want for the image to become too strong and overly-burned looking. :P

03. Ooh, this is where the real fun begins, I suppose. Go to Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Hue/Saturation and set the layer at Normal, 100%. My settings for this particular image would as followed:
Hue: 0
Saturation: -20
Lightness: +2

04. Next layer up is a Color Balance layer. Set at Normal, 100%, and the settings as:
MIDTONES
C: -48
M: -33
Y: -6

SHADOWS
C: -31
Y: -21
M: -25

HIGHLIGHTS
C: -16
Y: 0
M: +19

05. New Color Fill Layer, #876229 set at Overlay, 44%, to give Kame-love some skin color that I managed to do away with.

06. New Levels layer, set at Normal, 100%. For this particular image, I wanted the background to be really dark, so I moved the black pointer over to the right a little, darkening the entire image. No particular settings because it doesn't always work.

07. omg last layer, shocking, isn't? New Color Balance layer, set at Normal, 100%. Settings are:
MIDTONES
C: -36
Y: -47
M: -3

SHADOWS
C: -7
Y: -12
M: -32

HIGHLIGHTS
C: -7
Y: +4
M: +11

1. Create a New Curves layer & use these settings:

RGB
107, 124
175, 200

RED
117, 131
165, 188

GREEN
101, 100
147, 162

BLUE
102, 140
150, 179

2. Create a new layer & fill with #f5e7c5. Set to MULTIPLY @ 61%.

3. Create a new Color Balance layer & use these settings:

Midtones
8, 30, 20

Highlights
-2, -1, 20

Shadows
2, 29, 29

4. Create a new layer & fill with #3d0b29. Set to EXCLUSION @ 26%.

5. Duplicate base, drag to top & set to Luminance (Legacy) @ 73%.

6. Create a new Hue/Saturation/Lightness layer & use these settings:

MASTER
Saturation: 43

BLUES
Saturation: -26

MAGENTAS
Saturation: 28

Tutorial 4

1. You know how to start. Get a picture you want and crop it. Also, I didnt shrpen yet, but you can go right ahead and do that.

2. Now duplicate your base, and set it to Screen. What you set the screen opacity to all depends on your icon. For this icon I used 31%

3. Now create a Hue/Saturation Layer. For this kind of coloring I usually use something between +20 to +35, all depending on the picture I'm using. For this icon, I used +21.

4. Time for Selective Coloring.
Reds: -100, +10, +100, 0
Yellows: -100, +10, -50, 0
Neutrals: +32, -8, -12, 0

5. Time for more Selective Coloring.
Reds: -13, -11, +12, 0
Yellows: +26, +8, -20, 0
Neutrals: +10, 0, -8, 0

6. Now it's time for the last (i swear!) layer of selective coloring.
Neutrals: +18, +28, +23, -14

7. After all this was when I sharpened the icon.

Then add some brushes, text, textures, whatever to make your icon look pretty.

Tutorial 3

first, take the base, crop it&resize it (100x100). Don't sharpen yet, it just make the picture look weird.
now:
1. Duplicate your base and set it to screen 100 %.
2. Duplicate you're base again and set that layer to screen 70 %.
3. Merge all the layers.
4. Duplicate your new base, set it to multiply 100 %.
5. Duplicate the multiply layer and change the opacity to 50 %.
6. Create a new color layer, fill it with # 0182E5, a strong lighter blue color, set it to soft light 100%.
You can stop now, but if you had a darker image to begin with this would prob. be better:
7. New color layer, fill it with # f2a6d4 a soft pink color, set it to soft light 100 %.
8. New color layer, fill it with # fef89a, a light yellow color, set this to colorburn 20 %.
9. Go all the way back to your base, duplicate it, drag it to the top and set it to soft light.
Play around with the opacity a bit- then voilá, you're done!

1. pick your icon base. Here I choose a mione base of HP:SS by cokeandmint.

TIP:pick a pic with green or blue color. And if the main role(like mione) has a brown hair, you can get the best result^__^
ATTENTION PLEASE:please do not use the same pic/base as mine. I found some people learned the tuto, used the same pic/base as mine, and the most incredible thing is I've never seen them at my journal! Please, pick any pic you like, and trying to "playing" the tuto, ok?

2. duplicate the base TWICE. Set the first one to Screen with Opacity 39%. Set the second one to Soft Light with Opacity 39%.

3. create a Selective Color layer:
Reds(-10, 0, 100, 0)
Yellows(100, 0 , -55, 0)
Neutrals(0, 0, -11, 0)

Set the layer to Screen.

4. create a new layer, fill it with #98C9F6. Set it to Color Burn with Opacity 51%

5. create a Hue/Saturation layer:Master(0, 57, 0)

6. create a Color Balance layer:Midtones(-28, 0, 21)

7. create a new layer, fill it with #FEF85F. Set it to Soft Light.

8. create a Selective Color layer:
Reds(-100, 100, 100, 100)
Yellows(100, 49 , -37, 0)
Cyans(100, 100, -100, 100)
Neutrals(34, 19, -45, 0)

9. create a Hue/Saturation layer:
Reds(0, 7, 0)
Magentas(0, 9, 0)

10. create a Color Balance layer:Midtones(-14, 20, -31)

11. create a Curves layer:
Green(one node:184, 187)
Blue(one node:178, 137)

12. create a Curves layer, again:
RGB(two nodes:181, 167 and 62, 71)

13. create a new layer, fill it with #FD9CFA. Set it to Soft Light.
you can stop here, cause the coloring of the first result is finished. Or you can add some brushes, text, texture etc. whatever you like.
Here I create a new layer, then use a brush named "Spatter 27 pixels" in #FFFFFF, drag a line, and set this layer to Overlay. And I also add a little red heart brush.
Follow the steps below to get the result 2:

14. create a Color Balance layer:
Shadows(12, 21, -58)
Highlights(0, 0, 39)

15. create a Channel Mixer layer:
Red(98, 0, -6)
Green(2, 94, -6)
Blue(-4, 8, 96)
oooh~ we finally finish it!!!XDD
PS. Here I also duplicate the base once, and Sharpen it once.
